Gaza Genocide: Israeli Bombardment Kills Over 66,140 Palestinians

(MENAFN) The death toll in Gaza has risen sharply, with at least 66,148 Palestinians killed since Israel's offensive began in October 2023, according to a statement from the Health Ministry on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours alone, 51 bodies were recovered and 180 people wounded, pushing the overall injury count to 168,716 amid continued Israeli strikes.

“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry warned, highlighting ongoing difficulties in emergency response.

The report also noted that four Palestinians were killed and 57 others injured by Israeli fire while attempting to access humanitarian aid—bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in aid-seeking incidents to 2,580, with over 18,930 injured since May 27.

The Israeli military resumed its assault on March 18, ending a temporary ceasefire and a January prisoner exchange agreement. Since then, 13,280 people have died and 56,675 have been injured, according to ministry data.

Humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate. The ministry confirmed two starvation-related deaths, one of them a child, within the last 24 hours. This raises the famine death toll since October 2023 to 455, including 151 children.

Since the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared famine in August, at least 177 people, among them 36 children, have died from starvation.

The IPC’s Aug. 22 report officially labeled Gaza City as famine-stricken and projected that famine conditions would spread to central and southern areas by the end of September.

Despite the dire warnings, Israel has kept all border crossings into Gaza closed since March 2, cutting off humanitarian access and accelerating famine conditions. Aid convoys remain stalled at the borders, with only sporadic, insufficient deliveries permitted.

The ministry and local authorities report that many of those limited aid trucks have been looted by gangs allegedly operating with impunity. The Gaza administration accuses Israel of enabling or protecting those groups.
